The glitzy star cricket featuring teams of Kollywood and Tollywood stars began today on 7th March at Chepauk Stadium.

A great day for the Chennai fans of Cinema as well as Cricket who got to witness fabulous innings from the Kollywood and Tollywood stars. True to a greater source of elation, the home team won.

The Tamil stars team (from Kollywood) named ‘Chennai Warriors’  had JK Ritheesh (Captain), Aarya, Silambarasan, Bharath, Srikanth, Jeeva, Ramana, ‘Jithan’ Ramesh, Shanthanoo and others.

Telugu stars team named ‘Andhra Kings’ ( from Tollywood)  had Dr. Rajasekhar, Sai Kumar, Udhay Kiran, Nithin, Nikhil and others.

The 25-25 over match took off this morning amidst grand fanfare in the stadium. Kollywood team won the toss. Kalignar Kanimozhi did the honours of TOSS.  Vikranth – Jithan Ramesh went to the fields as openers.

Chinne Jayanth and Ameer were the commentators for the match.

Chennai warriors won the match with their exemplary performance.  and gave a  gift of joy to the city. The Chennai Warriors clinched the victory title from the Tollywood stars of the Andhra Kings Team. 233 runs in 25 overs is the winning score of the Chennai Warriors where Vikranth one of the openers gave the much needed tempo for an inspirational start in addition to his century. The century from Vikranth, half century from Jeeva and 3 wickets taken by Arya were the turning points of the Match to kiss victory.

Chinne Jayanth's commentary enunciated the fact that days of Cricket being played by Cine Stars as fund raisers had gone and the lovely spirit of playing it on friendship grounds has trotted in which is a healthy sign to be nurtured. He applauded this effort that was taken to show case our solidarity in voicing our concern for the Srilankan brethren in grief. The film fraternity present in good strength was also a booster for the cause as well as the onlookers.
